We provide world-class service production for international film teams filming across East Africa. Beyond casting, logistics, and crewing support, we also offer editorial and production consulting, ensuring stories are locally grounded while meeting global broadcast and festival standards.
Our service production clients include Bloomberg US, Voice of America, BBC Africa, Majority Films (USA), and Upian Films (France). We are trusted by leading broadcasters and production companies for our creative precision, on-the-ground expertise, and ethical storytelling practices.
Crew & Equipment
We source and manage experienced local crew, including field producers, production coordinators, directors, DOPs, camera assistants, gaffers, and sound recordists, at competitive local rates. We also facilitate access to local equipment, including grip, gaffing gear, and generators.
Logistics: Transport, Accommodation & Scheduling
We arrange reliable transport and drivers familiar with filming logistics. Accommodation recommendations are part of our pre-production process, and we can negotiate preferential rates for foreign crews. We advise booking accommodation close to filming locations, as travel times can exceed mapping estimates. For weather planning, we recommend AccuWeather, particularly during the long rains (mid-March to May) and shorter rains (November–December), which may shift due to climate change.
Location Scouting, Casting & Permits
We conduct location scouting and subject casting for nonfiction and fiction projects across Kenya and the region. We Are Not The Machine is a registered Kenyan Film Agent and manages film permits, drone permits through the Kenya Civil Aviation Authority, special pass permits for foreign crew, and equipment clearance, including customs bonding.
